Ondeo, the water division of the French services group Suez, has secured two contracts worth a total of Euro 36 million for the construction of two fresh water production facilities in Senegal and Burkina Faso. The fresh water pumping and production plant in Senegal will be built in Keur Momar-Sarr, 200 km from Dakar. It will supply the Senegalese capital with water drawn from Lake Guiers. The DBF (Design, Build and Finance) contract awarded by Sones (Societe nationale des eaux du Senegal) is worth Euro 17 million. The plant will produce 65,000 m3 of fresh water per day. In Burkina Faso, Ondeo has been entrusted by ONEA (Office national de l'eau et de l'assainissement - the national water and sanitation office) with the construction of a fresh water plant at Ziga, some fifteen kilometres from the capital Ouagadougou. The facility will be financed by the French Development Agency (Agence Francaise de Developpement). The Euro 19 million plant will produce 60,000 m3 of fresh water per day and will replace the old facilities that currently supply Ouagadougou.
