Bulk Water Supply Project in CDO (Philippines) opposed

March 2010  -  The bidding and awarding of bulk water project to Rio Verde Water Consortium Inc., (RVWC) in December 2004 declared by Commission on Audit (COA) to be tainted with fraud and other irregularities. RVWCI was awarded the 25-year contract to undertake Bulk Water Supply Project (BWSP) of COWD (Cagayan de Oro Water District). RVWCI has committed to produce at least 50,000 m3/day by the end of 2006, and double and triple that capacity by the end of 2010 and 2015, respectively.

Carmen Bulk Water Supply Project (July 06 forum)

(Cebu, Philippines)   In September 2004, the Metro Cebu Water District/MCWD Employees Union (MEU) declared their strong opposition to the take-or-pay Carmen Bulk Water Supply contract, as proposed by the Ayalas. Feb 28, 2010 - If the Cebu Bulk Water Supply Project (CBWSP) proposal for a joint investment with Cebu Province is finalized, it will serve as the pilot program for the province. Under the unsolicited proposal, Manila Water will supply 35 million liters per day (mld) of potable bulk water, sourced from the Luyang River of the Municipality of Carmen.
 

Hyderabad Water Board seeks funds from Japan agency

09 Sep 2009, HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board has approached the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for financial assistance to improve the water supply and sewerage systems in the peripheral and core areas of the Twin Cities. The system rehaul would cost about Rs 4,700 crore.

246MW Angat hydro plant is up for sale by PSALM end-April 2010; there are five bidders, including a joint venture of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) and Ayala Corp, the Maynilad & Manila Water owners, respectively. Industry watchers though intimated that Ayala’s interest in the Angat facility may have more to do with its business alignment, since its Manila Water Company (MWC) is already a concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) in providing part of the water supply in Metro Manila.

Les résultats d'une étude stratégique relative à l'eau potable et à l'assainissement en Tunisie a été élaborée sur demande du gouvernement tunisien par la Banque mondiale, en collaboration avec la Société nationale d'exploitation et de distribution des eaux (Sonede) et l'Office national de l'assainissement (Onas) pour examiner la situation qui prévaut au niveau institutionnel, organisationnel et économique.

La Tunisie a pu, durant des années, assurer un approvisionnement normal en eau au profit des différents secteurs, même pendant les périodes qui ont été caractérisées par un déficit pluviométrique. Il n'a jamais été question de rationnement de l'eau ou, encore moins, de coupure, malgré les années de sécheresse qu'a connues le pays.

La fusion de la Société nationale d’exploitation et de distribution des eaux (SONEDE) et l’Office national d’assainissement (ONAS) est de nouveau à l’ordre du jour. Un récent rapport de la Banque mondiale, intitulé, «Réflexion stratégique sur l’eau potable et l’assainissement en Tunisie» revient longuement sur cette question et en évoque les avantages et inconvénients.
