Following the assumption of full responsibilities of Nigeria's troubled Power sector, President Goodluck Jonathan constituted a Presidential Action Committee to oversee the new reforms in the sector. To underscore the enormous task before it, Jonathan elected to head the all important committee which has the minister of state for Power, Nuhu Somo Way, as vice chairman.
Jonathan Orders Full Implementation of Power Sector Reform

President Goodluck Jonathan has directed the Ministry of Power to commence full implementation of the Power Sector Reform Act in order to create room for private sector participation and efficient service delivery to Nigerians, Minister of State [Power] Nuhu Somo Wya has said.
OECD published two major reports in 2006 and 2007. 30 September 2009 - Climate change poses fundamental threats to Asia's food and energy security which, if left unchecked, will result in an upsurge of migration into already overburdened mega cities, according to three major new studies funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
ADB's Board has approved a new ADB Energy Policy to guide ADB operations in the energy sector. The 2009 Energy Policy will align ADB's energy operations to meet energy security needs, facilitate a transition to a low-carbon economy, and achieve ADB's vision of a region free of poverty. ADB's energy sector operations have been guided by the Energy Policy approved by the Board in 1995 and its 2000 Review of the Energy Policy. ADB developed an updated energy policy in close consultation with internal and external stakeholders.
(17 Sep 2009) The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is extending $780 million to Pakistan through a multitranche financing facility for priority energy efficiency projects that will secure the country's growing energy needs and reduce its reliance on costly, polluting fossil fuels.
A Validation Report in May 2009 of a Project Completion Report (PCR)of Pakistan's Energy Sector Restructuring Program (ESRP). US$350M loan approved in 2000), by ADB's Independent Evaluation Department. The validation report called for, among others, a Labor Impoact Assessment that had not been undertaken as part of ESRP.
